Eelmoor Marsh is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and comprises a diverse range of habitats and supports over 250 species of flowering plants and grasses. The area is also notable for its diverse invertebrate fauna. Since 1995 the conservation efforts include habitat restoration and the use of conservation grazing with endangered Przewalski's horses.
